Felix & Ferns

About Us

Hi, I am Emma. I have 22 years of experience in teaching in early years and I am passionate about early childhood development.

Setting up the hub has been an ambition of mine for several years and I am delighted to have made it happen, particularly so that I have returned back to my roots having lived in New Hartley in my early years.

The hub is a place where children’s creativity and imagination will be nurtured and will flourish.

About my

Background

I can’t remember a time when creative activities have not played a massive part in my life. My grandparents were very creative and I have fond memories of learning creative skills with them.

I used to sit with my Grandad for hours exploring different media such as pastels, charcoals and watercolours. My Grandma gave me a love of gardening and from that, I took a keen interest in painting and drawing flowers.

I have forever had a love of the great outdoors! I have the most treasured memories of time spent in Plessy Woods, playing ‘Pooh sticks’, picnicking, splodging through mud, looking for bears, discovering fairy hideouts, and relentlessly trying to catch whatever we could in the river.

My husband still has to rein me in when we walk through the woods today as I cannot resist picking up fallen acorns, pine cones or conkers. I still get to splodge only these days it’s with my two dogs. Hinny and Murphy.

About our

Team

Emma

Emma has had a passion for creative activities, nature, and the outdoors since she was a small child, and to this day, she still enjoys a good old splodge around the woods.

She has gained a wealth of knowledge in child development through 22 years of experience teaching early years age groups.

Emma is excited to bring Felix & Fern’s Creative Hub to fruition and she cannot wait to welcome you all in.

Madeleine

Madeleine has had a love of stories from being a baby. As soon as she could walk she spent her time trooping to her bookshelf to select her favourite books.

She has had a deep-rooted love of art throughout her life so far, picking up a GCSE in art along the way.

Madeleine is a Level 2 qualified florist and is continuing her studies to achieve Level 3. Her creative flair is evident in her floral designs and creations.
